The New Jersery Buddhist Vihara
was established in the year 2002. It was first conducted
on a rental property and in the year 2004 the Buddhist
community in New Jersey purchased an exquisite 10 acre
block of land, close to Princeton Universitiy.
The objective of the temple is to benefit the Buddhists
as well as others for their mental happiness, peace and
tranquility.
Since its inception, the New Jersey Buddhist Vihara has
made a tremendous contribution towards the uplifting of
the religious knowledge of the Buddhists as well as
non-Buddhists who are interested in the study of f the
Dharma.
The temple is a sanctuary for Theravada Buddhism, mainly
because the resident monks were brought from Sri Lanka.
The religious activities were similar to the activities
of a traditional temple in Sri Lanka. |
